A lesser known but quite accessible national park, Samburu National Reserve showcases the arid and semi-arid ecosystems of Northern Kenya plus a wide variety of unique dry-land game including the Reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and the rare Grevy’s zebra. The life-sustaining Ewaso Ng’iro River which divides Samburu National Reserve also attracts large herds of elephants plus lions, cheetahs, leopards, Cape buffalos, impalas, elands, crocodiles, and hippopotamus and over 350 species of birds including bateleur and martial eagles and regal vulturine guinea fowls.
